Farm Store Opens at Amigos Locale – Your Connection to Regional Food Security

We’re excited to announce the opening of our Farm Store at Amigos Locale, bringing fresh, locally-sourced organic produce directly from Northern New Mexico farms and ranches to our community. This new store is part of a larger vision: building a robust regional food security system that connects producers and consumers across Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado.

What You’ll Find Right Now:
Our Farm Store is launching with an exceptional lineup of local producers:

  • Carrots from Cerro Visto Farm – Fresh, organic carrots grown right here in Taos County
  • Eggs from Yoder Farm – Pasture-raised eggs from local chickens
  • Sprouts from Kaizen Greens – Nutrient-dense microgreens and sprouts
  • Fermented Chimayo Red Chile from Muy Chingon Creations – Locally crafted, probiotic-rich
    chile
  • Honey from Taos Pueblo – Pure, local honey from Bee Happy at Taos Pueblo
  • Beef, Bison, and Lamb from regional ranchers

And this is just the beginning—lots more to come as we continue building relationships with
    producers throughout the region!

Why Shop Local at the Farm Store?

By shopping at the Amigos Locale Farm Store, you’re not just buying groceries—you’re investing in:
  • Local farmers and ranchers who use sustainable, regenerative practices
  • Regional food security across Northern New Mexico and the San Luis Valley
  • Reduced carbon footprint—shifting dependence from California to regional sources
  • Fresher, more nutritious food for your family
  • The local economy—every dollar strengthens our community
From California to Colorado: Cutting Our Carbon Footprint:
Currently, most of our region’s year-round fresh produce—carrots, onions, beets, potatoes, apples,
and greens—comes from California. By sourcing these staples from Northern New Mexico and the
San Luis Valley instead, we’re not only supporting regional farmers but effectively cutting the carbon footprint of thousands of pounds of fresh produce annually.
This shift strengthens the local economy while growing a sustainable system of food security that
doesn’t depend on trucks traveling hundreds of miles.

Growing With Community Support – What’s Coming:
The Farm Store is just beginning its journey, and we’re actively working with more local producers to
expand our offerings. In the coming months, you can expect to see:

  • More seasonal vegetables and fruits from area farms
  • Additional meat and poultry options
  • Local wheat and blue corn (with plans for a tortilleria in spring 2026!)
  • More value-added products like preserves, salsas, and fermented foods
  • Fresh herbs and medicinal plants
  • Locally roasted coffee and teas

We’re committed to featuring products from the ten local farms participating in The Taos Community Farm CSA program, plus new producers we’re connecting with through our expanded refrigerated truck aggregation system.

Part of a Collaborative Regional Vision:
The Amigos Locale Farm Store is one piece of the Taos Regional Farm and Ranch Food Security Collaborative—a multi-organization effort to connect and strengthen food systems across Northern New Mexico and the San Luis Valley. This collaborative received $1.4 million in state funding through the Governor’s Food, Farm and Hunger Initiative in 2022, part of a $24 million statewide investment in local food systems.

As a project of A.I.R.E. (Agriculture Implementation Research & Education), our store supports the complete food cycle: all proceeds fund our work providing 800 organic, locally-sourced meals daily to school children, maintaining school gardens, and offering culinary arts internships to local youth.

Meet Your Farmers:
One of the best parts of shopping at the Farm Store? You often get to meet the people who grew your food. Many of our farmers and ranchers deliver directly, and we love connecting customers with producers. Come in and ask us about Cerro Visto Farm’s growing practices, learn about Kaizen Greens’ sprouting methods, or discover the story behind Muy Chingon Creations’ fermented chile.

This isn’t just a transaction—it’s a relationship. You’re buying from neighbors who care about the land, the food, and your health.

Visit Us:
The Amigos Locale Farm Store is located at 330 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur in Taos, open Monday through Saturday, 9am-3pm. Stop by to see what’s fresh, meet our farmers and ranchers, and become part of the regional food movement that’s reducing our carbon footprint while strengthening our community.
